The United Methodist Church in Madison
Bell Choir
Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song
|
The Handbell Choir performs at the
Sunday service about once every two months. Most
often the handbells ring only during the offertory.
Occasionally, they will ring throughout the service. On Christmas Eve,
at the candlelight service, the Handbell Choir rings a
carol. Midnight is marked by the tolling of a large
handbell. The current Handbell Choir is a mix of adults and students. No prior experience with handbells is necessary to join. Ability to read music is not required, although it is quite helpful. Commitment to attending practice is relatively important, because if you are missing, so is your note. Practice is on Thursday evenings, 7-8pm in the Church Library from October to May. A smaller group of ringers form a Handbell Ensemble to play at special events. |
